Sharing: Permission and Roles
Permission and roles play a critical part in the security and delegation of ownership within a web site. Roles are predefined collections of permissions. Each Member has roles associated to their user. In fact, 'Member' is a role which grants various restricted permissions to a user.
Roles can be given to users at any location within a site, or for the entire site. This is called 'Sharing' roles to a user. For example, a Manager may elect to give a Manager role to a user only within a single Folder. THis allows that user Manager privelige to all content within that Folder.
The use of Roles can greatly contribute to safely delegating sections of a web site to various content managers. Those content managers may then elect to delegate sub sections of that to other users and so on.
