= Really Cool Possibilities
Flight track logs are an extremely valuable way to validate soaring forecasts. By comparing IGC track logs against the actual forecast available prior to a flight, we can start to quantify the validity of forecasts in ways never done before.
For example, here's Neville Hulett's 500+ km South African flight from December of 2008. His track (purple) is plotted across the forecast along the track flown. The red line is the predicted top of usable lift.
