- Give you another consistent source of information to compare
- Provide soundings for every model grid point
- Forecast general upper level wind flow fairly accurate
- Provide general trends for frontal passages, cloud cover, precipitation and thunderstorms

What XC Skies Cannot Do
- Forecast surface winds with a clear degree of accuracy (including gust factor)
- Discern stability near large bodies of water
- Forecast sea breeze effects and marine layer stability with certainty
- Resolve valley stability in narrow canyon and mountainous regimes
- Tell you what is really going to happen. This approach is not a Magic 8-Ball
